We only recently started traveling with tour companies. Before that we organised everything ourselves. On reflection I am quite sure we missed out on seeing things and hearing tales that would have enhanced our experience had gone with a knowledgeable tour that suited our travel style.

Tips for choosing your next tour
As convenient as it can be to have a company organise where you go, what you see and where to stay we suggest that to have the best trip you also want to make sure the tours are organised in a way that works for you, in a way that suits your travel style.
On the few tours we have taken we are now clear that finding the travel tour that suits us means looking at the details in the itinerary.
Pace of tour/excursions: Some tours move quickly so you can see a lot. For example: those tours would take a group into a walled city where you have a few hours to look around before heading out to see the next wonderful place. You have the opportunity to see many wonderful things and are pretty much always on the move.
How to determine the tours pace: Check the itinerary. How long do you spend in any one place a few hours or days? If you are in a new place every day this tour moves quickly to cover a lot of wonderful adventures. Remember when thinking about time spent in one place to factor in travel time in between locations. If you are in one location for a few days you probably have time to find your favourite tea shop, local bar/ pub or have a relaxed chat with a local
Group size: Some tour companies guarantee small groups others can have several bus loads of travellers all to navigate the same iconic location.
How to see the tour size: In general it will mention tour group size on the website. If it doesn't contact the company and ask. We have found size matters to us. It might not to you. We also find that knowing what to expect empowers us to have the best adventure.
Accomodations: In general accomodation stars are listed on the website or brochure.
How to check accomodation: If in doubt - contact the company and ask. You can often get the exact hotel name and look it up on the web to see if it suits your requirements.
Transportation: Since you are on a tour there is likely to be travel in between adventures.
Checking transportation: the tour itinerary generally states what the transport in-between sites will be. If this is an interest to you and not clear on the promotional material contact the tour company and ask what form of transportation they use.

We were very well looked after with time to explore cities and countrysides and meet families. We would travel with them in a heart beat.
We explored China with Tripadeal. It is extraordinary value with flights and accomodation included in the price. We saw many highlights of this fascinating country in a large group. It is fast paced to include the highlights we chose in our itinerary. Knowledgeable guides gave us information about China we would not have otherwise known. We will travel with them again the value is exceptional.
